Solving specimen question papers for ISC Semester 2 exams under the supervision of a teacher and seeking feedback on your performance could be an effective way to tackle problem areas and ensure better marks.
The specimen papers of all subjects for Indian School Certificate (ISC) Semester 2 exam, scheduled to begin on April 25, are now available on the official website of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
The specimen papers cover the entire syllabus and follow the same pattern as the board question papers. Solving these papers can therefore help students get an idea of the actual paper.
“Students get an opportunity to practice more with the specimen papers, which really helps them prepare for the board exams. If the specimen papers are solved under the supervision of teachers, it can really help the students for the board examination,” said Debabrata Bhattacharya, senior Physics teacher, The Heritage School, Kolkata.
The council releases specimen question papers every year before the board exams. These specimen papers are prepared in a similar format to the main board question papers.
The council website has specimen papers from the last five years, which students can download.
“Specimen papers for ISC provide a deep insight into the format of the paper and also give students a fair idea of the important parts to focus on,” said Pooja Choudhury, a Political Science teacher at Orient Day School, Kolkata.
Specimen papers also give students an idea of the marks distribution, question pattern, timing and format.
Nandini Dasgupta, commerce teacher at Modern High School for Girls, specimen papers are helpful for both students and teachers. “They are a great way to practice and evaluate your preparations. However, sometimes the specimen papers have one or two questions that are out of syllabus. But that doesn’t eventually happen in the main paper. So yes, I think specimen papers are helpful.”
Subject-wise ISC specimen papers can be downloaded from the Publications section on the official website of CISCE. Or you can follow the link —https://www.cisce.org/publications.aspx#SPECIMEN%20QUESTION%20PAPERS%20ICSE%20-%20CLASS%20IX
