The date for English Paper I of ISC Semester-II board exams, a compulsory paper scheduled on April 25, is clashing with the revised JEE Main dates released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) recently.
According to the latest time table for the ISC Semester-II exams released by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) on March 4, students will have to appear for the English Language paper on April 25 – one of the six dates for the JEE Main exams. The English Language paper is a one-and-a-half-hour exam which will begin at 11am.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which recently rescheduled the exam dates for the JEE Main to avoid any clashes with the dates of board examinations, will now be conducting the JEE Main exams on April 21, 24, 25, 29 and May 1 and 4.
Some schools affiliated to the CISCE have decided to request the council to reschedule the date for the English Language paper in a bid to ensure that science students appearing for the ISC exams do not have to choose between the engineering entrance examination and their board exams.
Fr Sanjay Kerketta of St. Xavier’s School in Ranchi said that the CISCE had initially released the exam time table after consulting with NTA representatives. However, the NTA rescheduled the JEE Main date sheet later, causing a clash of exam dates, he added.
“We will write to the council requesting a change in the time table for the exam,” said Kerketta
