Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has prolonged the deadline for submitting applications for admission through the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM 2024) until April 29, 5PM. Candidates aspiring to pursue masters and PhD programmes at IITs must submit their applications via the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) at jam.iitm.ac.in.
In a recent development, IIT Madras has announced the withdrawal of the joint MSc-PhD programme in Chemical and Molecular Biology offered by IIT Kharagpur from JAM 2024.
Around 3,000 seats across various IITs will be filled for the academic year 2024-25 through the IIT JAM exam 2024. Notably, IITs have clarified that no additional evaluation processes, such as suitability tests or interviews, will be conducted for admission.
JAM scores play an important role in securing admission to a wide array of programmes, including MSc, MSc Tech, MS Research, MSc-MTech dual degree, joint MSc-PhD, and MSc-PhD dual degree programmes across participating institutes. Apart from IITs, the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc) will also fill over 2,000 seats based on JAM scores.
The first admission list for JAM 2024 will be published on May 31, with candidates having until June 4 to make payments to secure their seats. Subsequently, the second admission list is scheduled to be released on June 12.
Additionally, JAM 2024 scores are expected to be used by several other prestigious institutes, including Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune (IISER Pune), and Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE).
