The Indian Army is inviting applications for unmarried law graduates for a short service commission course in the judge advocate general branch. Interested and eligible candidates can visit the official website at joinindianarmy.nic.in and apply. The application window will be closing on 16 February, 3 PM.
Eligibility criteria
In order to apply for the aforementioned posts, the age limit for a candidate is between 21 to 27 years as on July 1, 2023. Additionally, a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their LLB degree examination is required as part of the educational qualification needed to apply. Along with the CLAT PG score of the previous year. The candidates must be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India/State. Also, the candidate’s university or college should be recognised by the BCI.
Candidates with an LLB degree and mark sheet will be eligible to apply for this course.
Nationality: Citizen of India or subject of Nepal or person of Indian origin migrating from another country with the intention of permanently settling in India (check list of countries eligible in the notification on the official website.)
Selected candidates will go through a 49-week training at OTA Chennai according to their position in the final order of merit, up to the number of available vacancies, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
All candidates who successfully complete the pre-commission training at OTA, Chennai will be awarded a ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by the University of Madras.
Selection process
After the applications have been shortlisted, the Centre allotment will be sent to candidates via their email. After allotment of the Selection Centre, candidates will have to log in to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first come first serve basis initially. Only shortlisted eligible candidates will undergo SSB at Selection Centres.
Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure. Those who clear Stage I will go to Stage II. Those who fail in stage I will be returned on the same day. Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit will be issued a joining letter for training in the order of merit.
