The UK and India have collaboratively signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to grant mutual recognition of academic qualifications with a major aim of opening new opportunities for students in the United Kingdom and India.
This particular agreement will include higher educational qualifications like bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. As per the memorandum, the Indian upper secondary qualifications will now also be recognised for meeting the initial requirements of higher education colleges in the United Kingdom.
At the same time, all UK degrees will now be recognised in India, helping Indian students in their application for post doctoral qualifications. This MoU will be valid for the coming 5 years and will be automatically renewed unless terminated by either party. However, students must be assured that discontinuation by either parties will not be affecting their equivalency under its period of validity.
The United Kingdom and India signed two more MoUs on implementing Enhanced Trade Partnerships to increase opportunities for Indian nurses to work and train in the NHS, and to renew a commitment for mutual recognition of the Seafarers’ Certificate of Competency.
