IIT Patna is gearing up to offer six new academic programs in the business management and computer science streams. Admissions to these courses will be conducted on the basis of scores from a number of competitive exams, and a JEE score will not be mandatory. This decision has been made keeping in mind suggestions of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.

For applying to these courses, students need to produce marks on any of the list of competitive exams released by the institute. While JEE is one of them, it is not mandatory. Interested candidates will be able to apply for these courses on the official website of IIT Patna- iitp.ac.in. The programmes will be available in hybrid mode and students can opt for the mode convenient to them. This feature will enable students to opt for any other program simultaneously as an alternative avenue.

A press release issued by the IIT Patna reads, “There is multiple channels for entry to these new programs of studies, i.e.; valid score of JEE Main, CUCET, SAT(US), NTSE, KVPY, INSPIRE, State level entrance andIITP-SAT. Each of the three-year UG programs is designed to impart skill in demand by industry and employees worldwide.” The candidate after the completion of their three-year degree program will be awarded IITP alumni status.

The new programmes being launched for the Computer Science stream are B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science and Data Analytics (CSDA), B.Sc. (Hons) Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (AICS), B.Sc. (Hons)Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS). While the programmes offered for the BusinessManagement stream are B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting and Financial Management (AFM), B.Sc. (Hons) in Business Management and Analytics (BMA) and Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA).

All six programmes being offered will have an intake of 250 students each, making it a total of 1500additional seats open to candidates. The semester fee for computer science programmes is likely to be around INR 40,000 and that for the business management programmes will be around INR 50,000.
