The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has made history by clocking the highest job offers in Phase I of campus placements for the academic year 2021-22.
About 73% of the students who opted for campus placements in 2021-22 have received job offers at the end of Phase I. The second phase of placements will begin in the second half of January 2022.
There were 1,085 job offers made by 226 companies in the first phase of campus placements that ended on December 10. Among them, there were 45 international offers from 14 companies — a new record in the history of IIT Madras. There were about 62 start-up companies that made 186 offers during Phase I.
Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) from internships completed before Phase numbered 231.
The total number of job offers stood at 1,316 at the end of Phase I. A total of 1,500 IIT Madras students had registered for Phase I placements 2021-22.

Shankar Ram, adviser (placement), IIT Madras.
There were a total of 45 international offers made in Phase I, of which 11 offers came from Rakuten Mobile, Inc. Other international offers came from Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid and Uber.
Some of the top recruiters were American Express, Microsoft India Pvt. Ltd, Bajaj Auto Ltd, EXL Service, IQVIA, EXL Service, Goldman Sachs & Co. LLP, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Amazon, Deloitte India, Rakuten Mobile, Inc., Tiger AI, Axis Bank Ltd, Bain and Company, EY India and Intel.
Job offers were made in various sectors such as Data Science and Analytics, Core Engineering and Technology, Financial Services, Information Technology and Software Development, Management and, Research and Development.
