"I would just say that being consistent and hard work along with smart work is the key to doing whatever you want to achieve and the same holds well for this field as well," he told ANI.

"I was not expecting Rank 1, I was praying to God to get into the top 70, so that I can get into Indian Administrative Services (IAS). It was difficult because you consistently have to acknowledge your mistakes and then try to rectify them despite not knowing how to. But with the help of my mentors and seniors, I was able to achieve that," he said.

Srivastava achieved this brilliant feat in his third attempt. In his earlier attempt he secured the 236th rank and was selected for the Indian Police Service.

Talking about his journey to the top, Aditya revealed the uphill task he had to undertake.

"It was my third attempt and the journey has been tough and challenging. You have to realise your shortcomings, rectify them and for this, you have to toil hard," Srivastava told ANI.

The three-stage Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination is conducted annually to recommend candidates as officers in the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Foreign Service and other central services.
