Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur is set for another year of strong placements. This year, a total of 40 companies have registered for the placement drive till date, with more companies expected in Phase Two starting from December 2021.
As many as 128 students have already been placed as of November 2 in the first phase of the placement, compared to 135 during the 2020-21 Academic Year.
Speaking about the placement strategies, faculty incharge of IIT Jodhpur’s Career Development Cell Anuj Pal Kapoor said, “The students’ performance in the interviews -- with support from the faculty and administration at IIT Jodhpur -- is a testament to our grit and gumption, which ensured almost 55% placements during the first phase. The industry-aligned curriculum along with rigour and relevance brought in respective courses across departments at IIT Jodhpur has enabled us to achieve this mark.”
Some of the companies that offered Per Placement Offers (PPOs) at IIT Jodhpur during 2020-21 include DE Shaw, Arcesium, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, Gojek, Amazon, Adobe, Codenation, SMS Data Tech, Diverta, Otsuka, ExaWizards, Goldman Sachs and Google among others.
International offers have increased from two to four for IIT Jodhpur this year. Three Tokyo based companies -- IT firm SMS Data Tech, web technology firm Diverta and pharmaceutical company Otsuka Holding -- have offered jobs to students from the institute.
Several companies have come to IIT Jodhpur for the first time this year, including Google, Graviton Trading, Zomato, Paytm, Deloitte, American Express, IBM, Infineon, Bukukas, Park Plus, Housing.com, Increff, Tata Electronics and Tide.
To make the ongoing placement drive a success for its students, IIT Jodhpur has collaborated with several industries to train them. Apart from that, IIT Jodhpur’s project-based curriculum is aligned with the industry to make the students future-ready.
The industry-institute collaboration includes:
- Live projects for students to gain hands-on experience
- Industry interaction series to introduce students to future opportunities
- Motivating students to participate in competitions and events hosted by corporates across platforms
Based on the 128 offers made till now, IIT Jodhpur has witnessed a steady demand for software developers, business analysts, strategic cloud engineers, trade execution analysts, market analysts, decision analysts, system engineers, validation engineers, design engineers, product engineers, application engineers, analog design engineers and graduate engineer trainees.
There has been an increase in the average salary being offered to the BTech students as well. Compared to Rs.14.36 lakh per annum during 2020-2021, an average annual salary of Rs. 24.38 lakh is being offered during this placement drive.
