The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will soon open admissions for the first batch of its flagship MBA programme at the newly-built School of Business, the institute said in a statement released on December 24.
The admission process for the MBA programme will open in January, 2022 and classes for the first batch is likely to begin in July, 2022.
Admission to the MBA programme will be in line with the admission process followed by other IITs that offer MBA courses. Only those students who clear the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 will be eligible to apply for admission in the MBA programme, IIT Guwahati stated in a press communique.
The website of the School of Business was recently launched by the director of the institute, T. G. Sitharam. Information related to the MBA programme will be available at http://www.iitg.ac.in/sob
The institute will follow a two-stage admission process for the MBA programme. In the first stage, the candidates will be shortlisted for a personal interview. Those who clear the interview will move to the second stage where the final selection will be made, based on the interview and some other parameters.
Sitharam said that the establishment of the School of Business at IIT Guwahati was motivated by the idea of promoting and contributing to the subjects of management and entrepreneurship. He emphasised that the mission of the B-School is to create an ecosystem in line with NEP 2020 where learners from diverse backgrounds can strive and acquire skills and knowledge in business management. The new facility will also create opportunities for executives and technocrats to translate their ideas into tangible business solutions.
Laishram Boeing Singh, the head of the new facility, said that the primary goal of this newly-established facility is to impart business and management knowledge in conjunction with the right skills to empower individuals striving to achieve tangible entrepreneurial goals.
The School of Business, the first-of-its-kind in the region, currently has several faculty members associated with it. Expert faculty from Project Management, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Finance, Economics, Operations Management, Information Systems and Strategic Management will be teaching the first batch in the B-School.
Some of the expertise offered by this facility include Business Analytics, Human Resource Analytics, and Sustainable Finance. The facility is also expected to lend support to skill development and empowerment in the region, especially for small-time and women entrepreneurs.
