To develop the robotics and automation curriculum for the Schools of Specialized Excellence (SoSE) run by the Delhi government, the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) and the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The Director of Education, Himanshu Gupta has remarked upon the MoU by saying, “It is important that schools now start offering courses and syllabus, which are beyond regular subjects. The future will appreciate students who come with an adept skill set in areas of new generation technologies like Robotics, Automation, ML, and AI, which is going to be the norm of functioning for every industry in the near future.”
Gupta further added, “With this in mind, the SoSE has put IIT Delhi’s Technology Innovation Hub and I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC) in charge of designing the syllabus, which will be more progressive and industry-relevant in terms of robotics and automation including but not limited to mechanics, electronics, robotics programming, IoT etc. The whole idea is to curate teaching material and content for ease of learning.”
He continued by stating that in order to create an industry-relevant curriculum, the IHFC would work with partners and participants in the sector.
After completing four years of specialised study in the field of robotics and automation, he said, this programme will enable SoSE students to find employment in aspirational work roles.
The IHFC will also offer the knowledge of industry partners, academic partners, and alumni to help provide experiential learning opportunities for students such as internships, apprenticeships, guest lectures, masterclasses, visits, and projects. Students will learn via immersion and hands-on experience with these activities.
“The MoU signed between IHFC & DBSE is a futuristic collaboration between IIT Delhi and the Government of Delhi in alignment with their vision of making the children of today future-ready,” said the CEO of IHFC Ashutosh Dutt Sharma.
