Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi inaugurated its annual Management, Cultural and Sports festival, Agon-Rush 2022, in collaboration with 14 student bodies on February 4. Over 16,000 students from various institutes across the country will be participating in 46 events of the fest spanning three days.
This year’s theme for Agon-Rush 2022 is “Undefine Your Boundaries”, which aims to exemplify the quest for unlearning and relearning, a place to attain and share knowledge, and empower people.
The event was attended by IIM Ranchi director Shailendra Singh; the institute’s Student Activities Chair Nitin Singh; Deloitte India director Sandeep Chatterjee; and managing business partner of Reliance Industries Limited Mythili Sarathy.
Shailendra Singh said, “Agon Rush is an identity of IIM Ranchi students. This event aims to help students develop their personalities by giving them the opportunity to express themselves and achieve their full potential.”
Nitin Singh praised the hostel office as well as every club and committee member involved in putting the event together. Addressing the crowd on the inaugural day, he expressed gratitude for the huge turnout this year. The spirit of sportsmanship is required in every competition, he said, hoping that the competition would help every student instill this spirit in their character.
The festival started off with a recruitment-based bidding competition named Vorstand 8.0, organised by HiRe, the the HR Club of IIM Ranchi. Vorstand 8.0 was a unique simulation-based case study competition that gave students a chance to take a seat at the table and solve intense business issues presented by the judge and address the case from diverse perspectives.
Another event — Walkathon 2022 — aims to spread awareness regarding the prevailing societal issues in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a virtual walking marathon. Scheduled from February 4 to February 6, the theme for Walkathon 2022 is “Sustainable Menstrual Health and Hygienic Sanitation”.
Walkathon 2022 is the flagship event of United Nations Global Compact-Principles for Responsible Management Education (UNGC-PRME) at IIM Ranchi. It was inaugurated by Aditi Gupta, managing partner and co-founder of Menstrupedia, an India-based social venture creating comics to shatter the myths surrounding menstruation around the world.
Day two of the festival will witness inclusive programmes such as case studies, games, music, dancing, quizzes and more.
