The new campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on May 8.
One of the 20 IIMs, the institute became operational in July 2015. It was among the six new-generation IIMs established by the Government of India in 2015 to begin operations. About Rs 500 crore and 132 acres of land were allotted for the construction of the campus.
“This institute, with the permanent campus, will not only be the academic training ground, but it will be a life-moulding experience for the students also. We are living in an era where innovation and entrepreneurship are appreciated and encouraged. The stories of various unicorns, or startups which have been slated to be worth over one billion dollars, have scripted new history. It has opened new avenues as new sectors are coming under the loop of business enterprises. Such forays can be a game-changer for our country. I am sure that the ecosystem at IIM Nagpur will provide the students with the mindset of becoming job creators instead of job seekers,” President Kovind said.
IIM Nagpur was declared an Institution of National Importance under the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017, which enabled it to confer a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) to its two-year Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management students.
“Inauguration of IIM Nagpur New Campus at MIHAN at the hands of President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday, 8th May 2022, 10:00 AM. Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Nagpur CP Gurnani will also be gracing the occasion,” IIM Nagpur tweeted.
