Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has received EQUIS re-accreditation for a period of five years, the B-school said in a statement. EQUIS is an international system for quality assessment, improvement and accreditation of institutes offering management and business administration courses.
Rishikesha T Krishnan, director, IIM Bangalore, said that EQUIS accreditation is about excellence and continuous quality improvement linked to strategy, vision and leadership.
IIM Bangalore has received accreditation for five years, which is the longest duration for which EQUIS accreditation is offered to any institute.
Graduates who study at an EQUIS accredited school can be assured that they will receive international recognition for their qualification, which is extremely important in the age of globalisation, IIM Bangalore said in a statement.
During evaluation, the accreditation team went through profiles of the institute’s students, weighed its doctoral programmes and management programmes.
The team also noted that the institute is committed to digital learning and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). It offers strong executive education programmes, and research by students from the institute have been published in top international journals, the accreditation team stated.
The EQUIS team was also impressed by the institute’s policies for underprivileged students in India and students with disabilities.
IIM Bangalore has 109 full-time faculty members, about 1200 students across various programmes and nearly 5000 annual Executive Education participants.
Along with 11 disciplinary areas, IIM Bangalore has ten centres of excellence that offer courses and conduct research.
IIM Bangalore was accredited by the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) for a period of five years in 2016. EQUIS is a global school accreditation system run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) that specialises in higher education institutions of management and business administration.
“The five-year accreditation, longest that EQUIS confers, is a testimony to the fact that the evaluating team was confident about our ability to sustain efforts undertaken to achieve excellent standards in education and research,” a statement from the institute read.
