Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced an online Master’s course in Journalism and Mass Communication.
The last date for submitting the application without a late fee is January 31. These courses have been designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The online MA programme was launched in presence of Nageshwar Rao, vice-chancellor, IGNOU on January 14. 2022. "The quality of journalism education from IGNOU has provided equal opportunities for national and international students. MAJMC Online programme is futuristic, and encompasses all the core areas of journalism and mass communication. Apart from English, the university will launch MAJMC in regional languages such as Hindi and other languages," Rao said.
The two-year online MA course in Journalism and Mass Communication is being offered by the School of Journalism and New Media Studies, IGNOU. The programme provides a comprehensive exposure to various aspects related to Journalism and Mass Communication to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and competencies. The programme aims to develop skilled human resources in media and communication with a holistic appreciation of media as a tool for change and development, the release mentioned.
The programme will provide opportunities to those who are working in media organisations without appropriate formal training to upgrade their knowledge and competencies.

- Fill in the registration form.
- After completion, you will receive a username and password on your email ID.
- Login to the portal using your credentials. Submit all required documents and pay the registration fees via online net banking or credit/debit card.
- Save and print your form for future reference .
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline to be eligible to apply. They should have access to computers, the internet and basic knowledge of word processing (for creating word documents and communicating through the internet for sending and receiving emails, browsing sites etc.).
