The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) 2022 Semester 2 exams began with English Paper-I (English Language) on April 26. The students said the paper was relatively easy.
This is the first time that ICSE exams are being held in a semester system. The first semester was held in November.
“It’s been a great start and students were extremely excited about finally writing the exams offline without any uncertainty,” said John Bagul, founder principal, South City International School, Kolkata. “English as always has been an easy paper. Students did their best and were quite confident about their performance.”
Students were required to write essays, letters, notices and emails as part of grammar and composition
“The English paper was quite easy. It felt very strange ‘writing’ for the exams since I’m pretty used to the MCQ format from Semester 1. But overall, it was a good paper,” said Teresa Pongen, a Class X student of Pratt Memorial School, Kolkata.
Many students were sceptical about being tested in writing skills after two years of online classes and exams.
“I was anxious about a whole paper on writing skills, but it went off better than expected. All the topics given were easy. I think I did a fair job,” said Srija Bhattacharya, Class X, St. Teresa Secondary School, Kolkata.
The next exam is English Paper-II (Literature in English). The ICSE exams will end on May 23. The results are expected to be declared in the month of July.
