The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited scientists and professionals who are working in medical colleges, universities, research institutes and NGOs for research proposals under an ad hoc project programme.
According to ICMR officials, the initiative is going to promote research in India in the field of Biomedical investigations. Financial support will also be provided by ICMR in the form of ad hoc projects.
L K Sharma, scientist, ICMR has said that the maximum funding amount for each project will be around Rs 1.5 crore. The projects that involve humans or animals must have a clearance from the registered human ethics committee of the respective institute.
Under the research associate or senior research fellowships, ICMR has also invited proposals from young researchers. For both categories, proposals can be submitted till 5pm, on December 17, 2021.
Earlier this year in June, ICMR had invited Indian independent researchers to contribute scientific knowledge on Covid-19. The researchers were asked to submit their innovative research ideas in various priority areas. ICMR claimed that there was not enough knowledge available regarding the functional aspects of the COVID-19 virus, immunological response to natural infection, transmission dynamics and vaccines.
The Indian Council of Medical Research is an apex body in India for the coordination, formulation and promotion of biomedical research. It is among the world’s oldest and largest medical research bodies.
