Soumyajit Kundu — a B.Tech student from the Chemical Engineering batch of 2022 at the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (HITK) — has secured an All India Rank 3 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022, with an overall score of 929.
This year, around 9 lakh students have appeared for the GATE examination, with more than 15,000 students from Chemical Engineering. This marks HITK as the only private engineering college to be among the top three rank holders in GATE 2022 for Chemical Engineering.
Subhrojyoti Ghosh, from the B.Tech in Biotechnology batch of 2022, secured an All India Rank 13, followed by Debasmita Sarma Chaudhuri who secured an All India Rank 20.
In core engineering, Tathagata Roy from the B.Tech in Electrical Engineering batch of 2022 secured an All India rank of 136. More than 2 lakh students appeared for core engineering programmes this year in GATE 2022.
“It is a proud moment for the entire Heritage family. Our students have secured top ranks making us proud. I thank all the faculty members who have given their untiring efforts,” said P.K. Agarwal, the CEO of HITK.
“Our students have secured excellent ranks and, moreover, in the core engineering sector they have also performed well,” said Basab Chaudhuri, the principal of HITK.
Soumyajit aspires to take up a job in the public sector whereas Subhrojyoti aspires to study an integrated PhD programme in Biotechnology at one of the IITs.
