According to the panel's chair, Jagadesh Kumar, the University Grants Commission is distributing fellowship and scholarship monies via a bank site integrated with the public financial management system for direct benefit transfer payments. Canara Bank, he said, has created the Scholarship and Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP) for the delivery of funds.
According to Kumar, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has added new portal upgrades like connecting initiated by the scholar, monthly payment confirmation initiated by the scholar, tracking module, grievance module, and onboarding of academic users.
Payments to awardees are automatically generated on the authorised web portal, scholarship.canarabank.in, for all recipients linked by university, institution, or college based on monthly confirmation of candidates by the relevant university, institution, or college.
The commission has decided to host a training session or workshop for nodal officers using the portal in virtual form from November 14 to November 18, according to the UGC chief.
"All institutions are asked to identify the relevant nodal officers (maker/checker) working on SFMP to attend the training on a mandatory basis. The virtual meeting's link would be released soon "said Kumar.
