Unfortunately, thousands of medical aspirants who took the NEET PG 2024 exam find themselves in a state of uncertainty as of now. Allegations of a paper leak, sudden exam changes, and prolonged delays in counselling left them in the lurch.
In response, 19 candidates filed a petition with the Supreme Court against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), demanding the release of the NEET PG answer key and a clear explanation of the normalisation rule to maintain transparency in the national level exam.
As more than 2 lakh candidates await clarity on the NEET PG 2024 results and counselling process, the Supreme Court took up the matter on September 13. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud called for a response from the NBEMS, with the next hearing scheduled for September 20 – the same day that counselling registration is set to commence.
The schedule, circulated by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and select medical institutions, indicates that MCC NEET PG 2024 counselling registration for round one will begin on September 20. However, the official NEET PG counselling dates have not yet been updated on the website mcc.nic.in.
Despite the announcement, the NBEMS is yet to release the NEET PG cut-off scores or raw results, leaving aspirants in further limbo.
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which oversees the counselling process for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses, announced the facility to change nationality from Indian to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) for NEET PG counselling.
For candidates wishing to change their nationality to NRI, the MCC has set a submission deadline of September 17 through the official portal.
NEET PG, the gateway for admissions to MD, MS, post-MBBS diploma, and other allied courses, has been mired in controversy this year due to these delays.
