In a significant update for aspiring doctoral candidates, the University of Delhi has announced that from the 2024-25 academic session, admissions to its PhD programmes will be primarily based on the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores.
The UGC NET score will account for 70% of the admission criteria, while the interview will contribute the remaining 30%.The university also stated that it might conduct a separate PhD entrance examination for disciplines not covered by the UGC NET, such as engineering, Portuguese, and Italian. The NET score will remain valid for one year for PhD admissions.
