Codevidhya curriculum emphasises on emerging technologies such as Robotics, Raspberry Pi, 3D Modeling & Printing, Web Development, Mobile App Development, Scratch Programming

Codevidhya, an ed-tech startup, offers computer programming curriculum for CBSE, ICSE and IB schools to teach programming and prepare the future generation with skills required for jobs, innovations and startups.

Ceo and founder of Codevidhya, Shiv Ram Choudhary’s visionary dream is to prepare ‘Creators of Technology’- millions of smart coders. He believes that one must “code to decode our future”, and that school education is the foundation of nation building and if we really want to bring about a positive change, it should happen at this crucial stage.

The startup offers a complete suite of products for schools in both offline and online formats, which are mapped with CBSE curriculums for coding. It offers a well-structured coding curriculum for schools to teach coding right from Class I. The curriculum is at par with the latest trends in programming languages such as Python, PHP, and JavaScript to prepare young manpower for future challenges. Currently working with 50+ schools across India, the startup aims to grow all over the country in the coming years.

Founded in 2016 by Choudhary, Codevidhya curriculum emphasizes emerging technologies like Robotics, Raspberry Pi, 3D Modeling and Printing, Web Development, Mobile App Development, Scratch Programming.

Codevidhya is highly inspired by the Finland Education Model wherein vocational education is also important with other subjects. They emphasise more on helping children to boost critical thinking and computational skills so that they can get the leadership and entrepreneurial skills for the future.

Reasons to teach programming in school:

  • Kids learn faster when they are young; they are ready to learn new things as they are inquisitive. Their minds are flexible to adapt to new things and the changing environment.
  • Teaching kids to code is as easy as teaching any other subject or a language. Even the students weak in academics can also do better programming. For example, our winners of the Hour of Code contest include more than 50% students who were not strong in Science or any other subject. This proves that everyone can code.
  • It is a future education and in the long term it has a great outcome. In the coming 10 years, every individual will have their own website/app just the way in which every business has its presence on the internet.
  • Even an average academician/ comparatively poor student can be outstanding performers in this field, Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, for instance.
  • This concept is new only to India whereas in the US, 80% schools teach programming to their students. In the UK, China and many other countries, it is already mandatory for schools to teach programming.
  • It develops skill in the students and will be a direct source of income for him/her. Anyone can start his/her own online/ offline business and those who undergo graduation in IIT or any other institute will get the benefit of learning more advanced things rather than the basic one.

How does the programme work?

  • Two days of initial training will be given to the faculties of Computer Science (additional training according to the curriculum).
  • Practical-based computer books for students as well as for teachers.
  • Online resources/tools such as Codeplay (an online IDE), Code Challenge and QuickBook (classroom monitoring tool for teachers). Every student and teacher will have their account on codevidhya.com to access these tools. (User Id and Passwords will be provided by Codevidhya).
  • Workshops will be conducted by tech professionals during the academic session.
  • Programme monitoring to ensure progress of the programme as projected in the curriculum.
  • Small game projects and APIs for students.
  • Code challenges and rewards.
  • Skill certificate for every student after successful completion of the assessment. School engagement: Dedicated computer faculties, well-equipped computer lab (with active Internet connection) and kind cooperation.
