BTech, BCA and MCA students of Amity School of Engineering & Technology (ASET) picked up tips on hiring, internship, application and job opportunities at CISCO, an American multinational technology conglomerate corporation with its headquarters in San Jose, California, during a fireside chat.

The interactive session was aimed at providing students with information about emerging trends, career opportunities and life at CISCO.

“Students should follow their heart and passion and choose their area of expertise according to their interest, in order to be successful,” said Ritesh Kapah, senior director of engineering at CISCO. “The landscape of hiring trends in Information Technology is undergoing a transformation. With new technologies emerging rapidly, there is a huge demand for Computer Science and IT professionals today.”

Subodh Gajare, senior solutions architect at CISCO, agreed that technologies were constantly developing the attributed it to the increase in applications of computers in almost every domain. “Just getting a degree will not reap benefits because in the near future IT industries will not hire professionals having degrees, rather they need really talented and well-experienced professionals to do their job. At CISCO, we offer a plethora of opportunities for young, bright and talented engineering graduates, who want to pursue their career in the field of technology and also provide training to them, in their respective fields, which makes them future-ready,” Gajare said.

Barun Singhania, leading customer delivery CxMS at CISCO, advised students to work hard chase their dreams relentlessly. “Sky is the limit. There is no shortcut to success and one must keep persevering constantly till they achieve their goals. Never doubt your capabilities and synergise between your heart, hand and head, as when these three organs work in synergy, unbelievable results can be achieved.”

Welcoming the guests on this occasion, Abhay Bansal, joint head of ASET, said, “A large number of Amity students aspire and dream to join CISCO and to make Amity students industry-ready, CISCO Academy has been established at Amity with an objective of providing hands-on training that develops problem-solving skills, industrial attachments for real-world opportunities, providing globally accepted industry-standard certification, lucrative career opportunities in the field of Information Technology and also to inform the students about the courses designed by CISCO experts. The main objective of this session is to motivate and create awareness among the students about the expectations and screening criterion of CISCO so that maximum students can get selected by CISCO in their future recruitments.”

The fireside chat was followed by a Q&A session where students’ queries were answered by the CISCO officials.
