This is the 29th edition of the national conference

The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi, is offering a platform to scientists, academics and young researchers with the 29th edition of the National (Virtual) Conference on Condensed Matter Physics.

Condensed Matter Days 2021 (CMDAYS-21) is being hosted by the physics department at the university. The three-day event began on Friday.

Palani Balaya, senior faculty of the National University of Singapore spoke about battery technologies, and Joao Ventura, faculty of sciences and FIMUP, University of Porto, Portugal, discussed triboelectric nanogenerators on the first day of the conference.

Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri, former director of SN Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), Calcutta, and Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) distinguished fellow, was the chief guest on the occasion. Amlan Jyoti Pal, director of the UGC’s Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Consortium for Scientific Research (CSR) was the special guest.

A briefing of CMDAYS was delivered by D. Mohanta of Tezpur University as chairman of the central organising committee, CMDAYS. The dean of the School of Natural Sciences, A.K. Padhi, also spoke on the occasion.

Several more renowned speakers from India and abroad will exchange their research findings in several areas relevant to condensed matter physics over three days.

The conference is being presided over by Ratan Kumar Dey, the director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at CUJ, on behalf of CUJ vice-chancellor Kshiti Bhushan Das.

The aim and objective of the programme were introduced by convener Avijit Ghosh. Basudev Pradhan from the department of energy engineering is joint-convener and Jayanta Kumar Baral co-convener.
