Heads of schools confirm that the first day of the exams went smoothly at the exam centres

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Term 2 board exams for Classes X and XII got off to a smooth start on April 26.

The exams are being held offline after a two-year pandemic break. All exam centres ensured strict implementation of COVID-safety measures. “Our school is the centre for four schools this year. On Day 1, everything went off well and all examinees were present. All precautions were taken to follow the regulations recommended by the CBSE. All rooms are being fogged and sanitised daily to ensure COVID safety,” said Loveleen Saigal, principal, Birla High School for Boys.

Speaking about the arrangements at Mahadevi Birla World Academy, principal Anjana Saha said: “There were only 18 to a room, so all COVID norms and specifications were followed.”

“The first day of the exam rolled out pretty smoothly, though the students went to different schools for their centre of examination. Everyone showed support and cooperation. The exams were conducted smoothly at all centres,” Saha said. “There were no latecomers. I think the children showed true grit, resilience and determination in coming back to campus. And despite the summer heat, they took the paper in the comfort of the halls and the rooms in which they were seated.”

Speaking about the day’s exams, Saigal said: “Both the papers, Entrepreneurship and Painting, were conducted smoothly. The students seemed happy as they left the centre.”

Aarav Karnani, a Class X student of Birla High School for Boys, took the hour-long Painting exam. “Today’s exam went well and it was easy. We have English tomorrow; I am prepared for the exam and pretty confident about the paper,” he said.

“The first day went off without a hitch. The students were well prepared and were able to tackle all the questions adeptly,” said Koeli Dey, principal, Sushila Birla Girls' School.

The next exam for Class X is English (Language and Literature) on April 27. Class XII students with Biotechnology, Engineering Graphics, Retail, Electronic Technology, Food Nutrition & Dietetics or Library & Information Science have their next exam on April 28.

The last exams for Class X and XII will be on May 24 and June 1 respectively.
