BIT Mesra is hosting a four-day IEEE International conference on Internet of Things (IoT) and Blockchain Technology from May 5 to May 8.
S Konar, chair professor of BIT Mesra amd chief guest at the inauguration of four-day conference. Konar shared interesting anecdotes on the importance of security and significance of learning about IoT and Blockchain's buzzwords. He also spoke about the importance of Blockchain in conjunction with IoT.
Sandip Dutta, head of the Computer Science and Engineering department at BIT Mesra, highlighted the current achievements and strengths of the department, followed by a brief overview of the conference.
V. Bhattacharya, director BIT extension centre, Lalpur, and former head of CSE department, introduced the participants to the significance of understanding Blockchain and IoT and its need in the current scenario.
Suresh Nair, Chair, IEEE India Council, addressed the students virtually.
C. Jegannathan, dean (research, innovation and entrepreneurship) urged the students to think more about entrepreneurship and leverage available technologies for developing solutions that the entire world could use. He stressed the importance of innovation and how innovators have progressed by thinking ahead.
The inaugural ceremony included an online welcome address by keynote speakers Maha Shweta Sarkar from San Diego State University, USA; Zihan Lv of Qingdao University, China; Sureshwaran Ramadas of Malaysian university of Science and Technology; and T.V. Prabhakar of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. They wished the organisers their best wishes and welcomed the participants.
