This announcement follows a similar postponement by the National Testing Agency for the CSIR NET due to logistical issues.

"By order of Release No. PR 238/2024, in accordance with Rule 4 of the Bihar School Special Teacher Rules, 2023, all teacher candidates, District Education Officers, District Program Officers (Establishment), and relevant parties are hereby informed that the Competency Test, 2024 (Second), scheduled for June 26 to June 28, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons. The new dates will be announced later," the BPSC reiterated on social media.

The application period for the Competency Test for local body teachers ran from April 26 to May 4, 2024. Meanwhile, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) had issued admit cards for the head teacher and headmaster exams, which were set for June 28 and 29. The Bihar TET 2024 was originally scheduled to be held from June 26 to June 28, at various exam centres across the state.

The TET is a critical step for teachers to gain the status of state employees, necessary for teaching positions at primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Bihar.
