Final year and PhD students to attend offline classes with immediate effect
A decision regarding the resumption of offline classes for first year students will be taken later by the varsity administration
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi has decided to resume on-campus classes for all its students barring those studying in the first year of the various undergraduate programmes offered by the varsity, BHU stated in a press communique recently.
The decision of resuming offline classes with immediate effect was taken in a meeting of the directors of institutes under BHU, deans of faculties and senior office-bearers of the varsity under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Sudhir K Jain.
According to the press communique from BHU, all PhD students will be able to attend classes on the campus with immediate effect. All classes conducted at the Institute of Medical Sciences under the varsity will also be held offline
“All the classes under the faculty of agriculture, faculty of veterinary science, faculty of management studies, and Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development will be conducted in offline mode,” a statement from BHU read.
In these institutes and faculties, final year classes will be conducted in offline mode with immediate effect, while students of the remaining batches will resume on-campus classes from February 21, the statement from the varsity further read.
“All classes except those for first year students in the Institute of Science, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, Law, Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Commerce, SVDV and MMV will be conducted in offline mode. In these institutes, final year classes will be conducted in offline mode with immediate effect and those of other bathes will begin on February 21,” BHU said in its statement.
For the time being, first year students of all courses in Institute of Science, Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences, Law, Education, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Commerce, SVDV and MMV will continue in online mode.
The situation will be reviewed in due course of time and a decision regarding resumption of offline classes for first year students will be taken accordingly.
