Amity University has entered into collaborations with three top universities in the United States in a bid to boost academic and research opportunities in the fields of Biotechnology, Stem Cell Research, Astrobiology, Microbiome Research, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

The three universities are University of Arizona, Tucson; University of Florida, Gainesville; and University of California, Riverside.

Amity University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Arizona in the presence of Amity Institutions chancellor Aseem Chauhan. The MoU was signed by A W Santhosh Kumar, pro vice-chancellor, Amity Mumbai and Betsy Campbell, senior vice-president, University of Arizona.

The major collaborations under this agreement will include the initiation of a student research programme beginning from March 2022. The School of Engineering and Technology at the University of Arizona is willing to take part in the micro-campus programmes as well.

During the meeting, Kumar also discussed the avenues of joint courses in the field of Computer Science (IoT and BlockChain), Applied Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology and Astrobiology with Kevin Fitzsimmons, director, international initiatives of the University of Arizona.

Amity University has also signed an agreement with the University of Florida, Gainesville to conduct collaborative research in the field of “Microbiome study-Proteomics” through chief of infectious diseases Gary Wang and Ann Fox from the Center for Molecular Research, University of Florida.

The Florida university’s School of Engineering will also be involved in student research and academic programmes in Computer Science and Biomedical Research.

Amity University has also joined hands with the University of California, Riverside, for a research collaboration through Prue Talbot, director of the Stem cell facility at the University of California, as well as stem cell therapeutics company “Life cell”.

Both the universities will also be part of a collaborative initiative for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) sponsored research with Bir Bhanu, director at the Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIS), UC Riverside.
