The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) announced on Tuesday, July 12 that it will be holding an AICTE Conclave on Implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 around the theme of ‘Facilitating Engineering Education in Indian Languages’. The conclave will be held on July 15 2022 from 01:30 PM to 06:30 PM at the AICTE Head Quarter in New Delhi. The themes for the panel discussion are:
- Genesis and importance of education in the mother tongue.
- Role of Universities, State Technical Education Department, and Regulatory Bodies as enablers in imparting technical education in Indian languages.
- Future roadmap to make outcome-based education accessible in Indian languages.
The NEP was introduced by the central government in 2020 as a new paradigm for the Indian education system, and is gradually being adopted and implemented by all educational institutions across various states in the country. The policy aims to decentralise, decompartmentalise, and universalise education for Indian students, and proposes a new 5+3+3+4 structure for school education in place of the old 10+2 structure. The policy has been perceived as a turning point for education in the nation, and its various aspects have played a pivotal role in the public discourse around education over the past two years.
