The mock allotment serves as a crucial step for candidates to gauge their chances of securing admission into their preferred institutes. It allows them to analyse their current choices and make informed decisions before the final choice locking deadline on June 18. JoSAA will conduct a second mock seat allotment exercise on June 17 at 12.30PM, considering the choices filled by candidates up to June 16. The JoSAA counselling registration window will remain open until June 18, a day after the choice locking facility closes.

The registration process started on June 10, 2024. JoSAA 2024 has been established by the Ministry of Education to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 121 institutes for the academic year 2024-25. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 40 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admissions to all academic programmes offered by these institutes will be made through a single platform.
