Learners enrolled with Unacademy performed well in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 with three learners securing All India Rank (AIR) 1, eight learners securing top 10 AIR and 43 learners in the top 100 AIR list.
The AIR 1 learners shared their experience with Edugraph:
Gaurav Kumar, AIR-1, Electrical Engineering
The 24-year-old from Bihar Sharif, Bihar, graduated from Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Patna in Electrical and Electronics. Having appeared for GATE twice, the 2020 graduate wanted to secure a better ranking and joined Unacademy in December 2021.
Studying at home with the help of the online tutoring platform played a role in Kumar’s success story. “Unacademy was the gamechanger that helped me top with the mock test and leaderboard feature. It motivated me to push my boundaries,” he said.
With hopes of securing a job in the public sector, Kumar shared two tips for GATE aspirants. “One is to have a clear plan on how you are approaching the exam. The second is to have confidence that your hard work will lead to success,” he said.
Abhinav Garg, AIR-1, Computer Science
The final-year student from the University School of Information & Communication Technology (USICT) had no plans of pursuing a master’s degree or appearing for any competitive exams. “I wanted to go directly for the college placements,” said the 22-year-old from New Delhi.
But Unacademy’s videos on YouTube inspired Garg to attempt GATE. With the vision of getting into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Garg began preparing for GATE and enrolled at Unacademy.
Being able to study from home with the help of the competitive exam preparation platform, Garg was able to get a step closer to his dream. “I would recommend all the aspirants to observe your mistakes to prepare better,” he said.
Saurabh Singh Yadav, AIR-1, Environmental Engineering
Having completed his Bachelor in Technology in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur, the aspirant from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, chose GATE as his next step. “I wanted to pursue Environmental Engineering as sustainability is the responsibility of every engineer in India. I truly believe that Environmental Engineering has a lot of scope in future,” said Yadav.
He shared that Unacademy educators, especially Jaspal Singh, helped in his preparations for GATE.
Speaking about the exam pattern, Yadav said, “I believe that GATE questions are jumbled so there is no particular order to attempt.” He advised aspirants to “follow questions as they appear on screen”.
Aside from the three AIR 1, Civil Engineering AIR- 3; Computer Science AIR- 4; Civil Engineering AIR- 6; Electronics AIR-7and Electrical Engineering AIR- 10 were also secured by Unacademy learners.
