Upholding Tagore’s idea of swadeshi mela, the West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, organised a three-day fair — Lokshilpa O Karukriti Mela 2023 — at the Dwarakanath Mancha in Jorasanko Thakurbari from May 7 to 9.

The fair showcased a wide range of traditional arts and crafts, from almost all districts of West Bengal, like patachitra, dokra, wood craft, kantha stitch, clay dolls, shola craft, jute craft, wooden masks and much more. This year’s main attraction of the fair was the heritage Lepcha crafts of Kalimpong, which generated interest among the crowd.
