The ISC (Class XII) chemistry paper that was put off barely an hour and a half before the examination was to start on February 26 will be held on Thursday afternoon.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which conducts the school-leaving exams, had cited “unforeseen circumstances” for the postponement.

The chemistry exam will start at 2pm.

The question papers will be distributed at 1.45pm. The examinees will get 15 minutes to read the questions.

Several schools said they had sent reminders to students about the rescheduled date.

“We sent out a short message to students on Wednesday evening reminding them about the rescheduled date. This is to ensure that students are in school on time for the examination,” said Sujoy Biswas, principal of Rammohan Mission High School.

Most schools expect students to reach the campus by 1pm so that they are well settled in the examination hall by the time the question papers are distributed.

The council had last week sent a fresh set of chemistry question papers to the conveners.

Each convener, who is a school principal, has a fixed number of schools in his or her zone.

The question papers have been kept in the bank and will be collected on Thursday morning and taken to examination venues.

After the chemistry exam was cancelled on February 26, teachers across schools had spoken to students to allay their fears about the rescheduled test.
