Whatever be your talent or interest - take this opportunity to pursue it. After all, in the fast-evolving world of today, there is more to life than merely receiving good marks.

World Youth Skills Day, celebrated annually on July 15, emphasises the fundamental necessity of preparing young people for work and business. The primary purpose of this day is to provide important skills to young people all around the world to help them with employment and entrepreneurship.

To celebrate World Youth Skills Day, The Telegraph Edugraph brings Skillfest 2022 to enable and empower young school students in standard VIII-XII. Skillfest is our small initiative to celebrate young talent - those who will go on to be our future leaders. Through this initiative, The Telegraph Edugraph aims to encourage youngsters to explore new horizons and find the right pathways to fulfill their career aspirations.

As a part of Skillfest, Edugraph wants to identify transformative youth skills for the future and encourages students to send in their entries where they are showcasing one of the five identified skill sets. There is an exciting prize in each of the identified skill sets, which will be awarded to the student who wins in that category. Over 300 schools are participating and more than 1000 participants are expected to submit their entries in the contest. Esteemed personalities and professionals who have excelled in the selected skill sets, will judge the contest.

The last day to submit the entries is 13th July 2022.

List of identified skills:

1. Photography

Photography may already be part of your daily life by way of social media, but have you had the chance to share your work with the world and to have your skills celebrated? Photography combines a number of skills that come together to create high-quality pictures, including artistic vision and technical knowledge of camera equipment and the art of photography.

We are looking for students to showcase their portrait photography skills who can see and capture a human story through the camera lens like none other.

2. Digital design:

Digital designers bring together art and technology and thus need knowledge of design principles as well as mastery over design software. The contest aims to promote creativity and top talent from the worlds of graphic design, digital, mobile and game design.

We are looking for students to submit a digital poster showcasing an original and transformative design idea on the theme of Technology in Daily Life in 2050.

Prize: Wacom Graphic Drawing Tablet for Beginners

3. Entrepreneurship:

Entrepreneur skills include various skill sets such as leadership, business management, time management, creative thinking and problem-solving. You can apply these skills in many job roles and industries. These entrepreneur skills are vital for promoting innovation, business growth and competitiveness.

The Entrepreneurship competition requires students to demonstrate independence, creativity, determination, business savvy, and communication skills to take their idea from inception to finalisation. They must create a pitch deck and present it to the competition judges.

Slide 4: Competitor analysis

4. Content Creation:

Whatever the field that you’re passionate about, being able to write well can help you make an impact. Be it in research, for a college application, in an assignment, or simply to express yourself, writing is essential to communicating your thoughts. The ability to write well can set you apart!

This contest requires students to exhibit their content writing skills in an article format on the topic “Impact of social media on genZ”

Prize: Kindle

5. Scientific Thinking:

Scientific thinking skills include observing, asking questions, making predictions, testing ideas, documenting data and communicating thoughts.

We are looking for students to identify the big questions in STEM and present a working model/experiment or thought presentation in a 2-3 min video.
