‘Lights! Camera! Action’ and then ‘Cut!’ Don’t suppose you need any more clues to understand exactly what we are talking about – filmmaking of course! When a director sits in his or her chair, puts on their film-making ‘glasses’, so to speak, and watches as a scene is acted out – giving appropriate directions and inputs to the actors – they are actually taking a vision that exists in their head and coordinating a bunch of people so as to capture exactly that on video.
And if you are someone who is constantly imagining scenes, then film making may just be your pursuit of choice! But wait – especially in our country, there is a common belief that the world of showbiz is a brutal arena and one that few make it in. But is that the real picture?
Will the scenes that you dream of remain in your imagination? Well, we have an expert with us, Prasenjit Ghosh, Associate Professor at SRFTI Kolkata who is about to bust the myths and tell you exactly how you can set out on the path to becoming a Film Maker.
Mr Ghosh is a Post Graduate Diploma holder in Direction from FTII, Pune who has worked across a wide range of projects – both on the international and national stage. He has collaborated with other experts of his field and also received recognition in the film festival circuit.
