GATE 2023 result was announced on 17 March this year. Around 5.17 lakh candidates took the test in 29 papers and of them, around 1 lakh or 18 per cent have qualified as per records released by IIT Kanpur.
Hyderabad’s SH Gowtham Gudimella from Production and Industrial Engineering secured AIR 1 in GATE 2023, thus making it to the GATE 2023 Toppers list.
Team Edugraph congratulates him and brings you his journey to reaching the milestone. Take a look at excerpts from the interview
Gowtham currently works as a scientist in a government research organisation.
Describing his feeling about the milestone, he says “I am feeling happy because whatever I have studied and whatever I have understood has been a benchmark.”
On being asked what motivated him to sit for the GATE 2023 Entrance Examination, he recalls..
“I came from an MTech background and wanted to pursue PhD in IIT Hyderabad but I wasn’t called for an interview even a few days after my application. Finding out the reason, I discovered that my CGPA percentage, both in BTech and MTech, was too low to be called for an interview. It was then when I realised that I need to be in constant touch with the subject to pursue my PhD dream. And that’s when I took the call to sit for the GATE 2023 Entrance Examination in order to test my knowledge of the subject.
Gowtham’s GATE 2023 Journey to Success: Where I used to work in a government research organisation, the research scholars were also studying for the GATE examination. I used to hear their preparation strategies, and I got motivated while studying their resources and study materials. Most importantly, BYJUS Exam prep helped me a lot with their capsule notes, test series and study materials. The notes were so handy and simplified that it largely aided my GATE preparation.
Sharing his tips and advice to GATE Aspirants, Gowtham Gudimella says…
First of all they should start early and it should be continuous preparation. They should be in constant touch with the subject. For students in their 3rd and final year, they should be well versed with the prominent chapters and continuous revision is the key.
Keep on practising, and identify your mistakes to rectify them as quickly as possible. Be prepared to face any challenges as the exam might give you surprises. Keeping an open mind towards the exam will help you stay more confident.
Some portions will be tough. One should know which question to leave and which ones to attempt. This will help in time management as well.
Armed with his determination, Gowtham has gone on to secure AIR 1 and today is very glad that his GATE score will help him to fulfil his dream of enrolling in IIT Hyderabad for his PhD.
Gowtham’s Success Mantra to all: Give your 100% and keeping a stress free mind is very necessary to crack any entrance examination. Also, never give up… after all, your failed attempts will lead you to the stairs of success for sure.
