The Telegraph Online Edugraph got in touch with Ms Pallawi Agarwal of Calcutta Public School, Kalikapur to understand the right method to study for the ICSE Class 10 Hindi paper “One of the foremost strategies to score high marks in Hindi (2nd language) paper is practice essay writing. Most students do not practice essay writing whereas it is one of the most high scoring sections. Next, letter writing is another important section which needs to be focused upon. Students must note that out of 7 marks in letter writing, 2 marks are for the letter format, which if understood correctly can help students score better marks” added Ms Agarwal.

Students must devote ample time to Hindi literature and make it a part of their daily study schedule. From understanding the depth of the characters to catching hold of the underlying themes, they must immerse themselves fully in the world of Hindi literature.

Master Grammar

While literature captivates with its narratives, mastering Hindi grammar is equally crucial. Regular practice, especially focusing on areas like synonyms, antonyms, and idioms, can significantly boost up the overall scores. “To score more than 95 in Hindi students need to pay strong attention to Vyakaran (Grammar). It is one of the most crucial sections of the question paper and by paying little attention to it students can get better marks” said Ms Agarwal.

Final Examination Day

On the day of the examination, students can opt to tackle either the literature or language section first, depending on their preparedness. Those opting for literature should manage their time judiciously, given the breadth of stories and characters to cover. On the other hand, attempting grammar first demands efficiency to avoid time constraints later on. “Few of the most important chapters from Sahitya Sagar Sankshipt Kahaniyan which students must not skip are: Apna Apna Bhagya, Baat Athani Ki, Kaki, Mahayagya Ka Puraskar and Do Kalakar. Other crucial chapters from Sahitya Sagar Adyabhag are: Kundaliyan, Sakhi, Swarg Bana Sakte Hai, Megh Aaye or Matra Mandir Ki. Throwing light on Ekanki Sanchay: Sanskar or Bhavna and Mahabharat Ki Saanjh hold significant value for the examination” stated Ms Agarwal.

Latest Paper Pattern

In the current paper pattern essays and letter writing sections carrying significant weightage. Hence, students must note that strategic planning, and meticulous execution are key. Additionally, comprehension exercises and multiple-choice questions on vocabulary and grammar provide further chances for securing higher marks.
