The annual board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are scheduled to commence from February 15, 2024. Students in class 10 are preparing for the CBSE Board Exam 2024, with the Class 10 Hindi board exam scheduled for February 21, 2024, as per the official CBSE Board Exam 2023 datesheet.
Hindi (2nd Language) is one of those subjects where students can score well. Class 10 Hindi offers two choices - Hindi Course A and Hindi Course B, with both papers scheduled on the same day.
To help students in their preparation, The Telegraph Online Edugraph got in touch with Ms. Renu of Delhi Public School, Ranchi to get some valuable tips and tricks for students to help them enhance their performance in the board examination. “My foremost advice to students appearing for course B exams would be to memorise ‘Vyakaran’ (Grammar) thoroughly as that will fetch them the maximum marks. Next students should also fruitfully utilise their reading time and then strategise as to how they will solve the paper to complete it on time. I suggest students should also read the passage in their reading time as that would help them save a lot of time” added Ms. Renu.
Several chapters have been omitted by CBSE this year, making it crucial for students to stay updated with the syllabus. Avoiding unnecessary investment of time and energy in deleted chapters is advised. Thoroughly reading and regular revision of all the chapters is essential.
“Coming to the question answer part I suggest students should take note of the Shadh Seema (Word count limit) and then answer the questions accordingly. Writing unnecessary long answers would not only waste their time but also lower their chances of getting higher marks. Moreover, the answers should be to the point, with an appropriate introduction, body and conclusion” said Ms. Renu.
The writing section, consisting of anuchched-lekhan, patra-lekhan, suchana lekhan, vigyapan-lekhan, laghu katha-lekhan/email lekhan, sandesh-lekhan, etc., carries significant scoring potential. Students must be well-versed of the correct format. Anuchched-lekhan content should be relevant, concise, and appropriate, with no alterations to the paragraph.
“Throwing light on the email question. I suggest students focus on writing emails rather than stories. This will reduce their chances of losing marks. Most of the time the story angle is actually not liked by the examiner” stated Ms. Renu.
Proper format adherence is crucial for patra-lekhan, suchana lekhan, vigyapan-lekhan, laghu katha-lekhan/email-lekhan, etc., and a neat presentation is emphasised. In Vigyapan-lekhan, students are permitted to use colour for enhanced presentation.
“Though it cannot be exactly stated as to which chapter and poem is important but still I would suggest that students focus more upon: Kabir Das’s Saakhi, Manushyata, Bade Bhai Sahab, and Harihar Kaka” added Ms. Renu
Practice is key, and students should engage in solving as many model question papers as possible. This helps in self-evaluation, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and subsequent targeted improvement.
“I would strongly suggest students attempt each and every question. Often I have noticed students leaving out questions due to various reasons. That is not correct. Attempt every question and it will definitely work in your favour. Lastly I feel every student should be confident about themselves and they should have faith that they can do it, they should not fear exams but have the ability to face it to come out with flying colours” concluded Ms. Renu.
Your main goal should be to do your best and write the most relevant answers as you can. The Telegraph Online Edugraph truly hopes that these tips will be useful to you as you get ready for the CBSE 2024 exam. All the best!
