The registration process for the Common University Entrance Test, CUET UG is currently ongoing at the official website of the National Testing Agency. Through this exam, students will be admitted to various undergraduate courses at central universities and other participating institutes across the country. The registration process will continue till March 26, while the exam will be held between May 15 and May 31.

The Telegraph Online Edugraph spoke with experts to help students in their journey through the examination. For History, we spoke with Dr Sulagna Som, a teacher of History at Syamaprasad College, Kolkata, who imparted her valuable advice for students to crack the exam with ease.

"Students should read the NCERT books of classes 11 and 12 very carefully. These include the books on Ancient Indian History, Medieval History and Modern Indian History. Questions will be asked from these books, hence, students from other boards, willing to do smart work should also go through these books," said Dr Sulagna Som.

She advised students against mugging up the dates of events and focus on remembering the sequence of events of history instead.

"If they remember the sequence of events instead of remembering the dates, then through back calculation, they will be able to remember the year in which the event happened and it will be easy for them," she said.

"They should also remember the names of the authors and the books written by them across all the periods as they will be asked to name the books written by the prominent writers in the respective periods," she added.

According to her, students should also try and remember the location of important places in history as they may face such questions.

"Students may be asked about the location of Chanhu-daro or Mandi and may even be asked to mention the southern-most site of the Harappan civilisation. Hence, they should go through the maps given in the history books very carefully as remembering photographs is easier than remembering texts," she advised.

Teacher Sulagna also emphasised on the importance to crack the CUET UG examination with ease.

"Mock tests are very important. Students should appear in mock tests frequently to get well versed with the pattern and the scheme of the exam. They should appear in at least one mock test every day. This will help them in adapting themselves with the questions they are going to face," she said.

Finally, she advised students to focus more on their strong areas, try to answer the most from them and score good marks. Students should focus more on at least two of the three parts of history, i.e. Ancient, Medieval and Modern history, to secure good marks.
