The Punjab Police, in an official notification, released today, on February 29, has invited applications to fill up 1746 vacancies for Constables in District and Armed Cadre posts. Interested and eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications online through the official website - punjabpolice.gov.in or iur.ls/punjabpolicerecruitment2024. The application window will remain active from March 14 (7PM) to April 4 (11.55PM).

Vacancy Details

  1. District Police Cadre (excluding sportspersons) - 970
  2. Armed Police Cadre (excluding sportspersons) - 776

As per the notification, “The number of posts/vacancies may be increased or decreased by the Punjab Government/ Punjab Police at any time before the completion of the recruitment process, without giving any prior notice to the candidates”.

Age Limit

  • Candidate’s age must be between 18 to 28 years of age as of January 1, 2024.
  • In the case of Punjabi residents belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, the upper age limit will be relaxed by 5 years, such that the upper age limit does not exceed 33 years as of January 1, 2024.

Educational Qualification

  • 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised education board.
  • Matriculation exam with Punjabi as a compulsory/elective subject or any other exam in Punjabi language as specified by the Punjab government.

Physical Standards

  • Male - 5 feet 7 inches (170.2 cms)
  • Female - 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cms)

Mode of Selection

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the two common Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Screening Test (PST), and Physical Measurement Test (PMT), followed by the document scrutiny. All transgenders will be treated at par with females for PST/ PMT.
