XLRI Jamshedpur is all set to host the much-awaited "HR for the Greater Good" Conclave on August 26 and 27, 2024. This national conclave is specifically designed for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) to share their transformative experiences and contribute towards the greater good of their organisations and society as a whole.

Interested CPSEs can register for the conclave by visiting the official website at https://hrconclave.xlri.ac.in/. The registration fee is INR 21,000 (inclusive of 18% GST) per CPSE, covering participation in the two-day event. Registered participants will receive complimentary accommodation and meals for the duration of the conclave, along with seamless local transportation services. The registration period is from July 12, 2024, to August 15, 2024.

The theme of the conclave, "HR for the Greater Good," emphasises the importance of HR policies and practices in achieving enhanced environmental performance, social goals, high-performance work cultures, and ethical standards within organisations. In a world grappling with challenges like climate change, resource scarcity, and socioeconomic issues, it is crucial for businesses to transcend traditional approaches and adopt a quadruple bottom-line perspective—people, planet, profit, and policy.

The United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development highlights the critical role of human resources in driving inclusive and sustainable growth. In parallel, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) emphasises the importance of decent work within this framework, which merges economic, social, and environmental goals to ensure that all individuals experience dignity, equality, and fairness in their work environments.

Amidst these global challenges, corporate entities are increasingly integrating sustainable practices into their strategies, promoting ethical governance, advancing social equity, and enhancing the holistic well-being of their workforce. The conclave provides a platform for participants to engage in collaborative dialogues and insightful sessions, fostering a spirit of mutual learning among attending organisations. Esteemed academicians, industry veterans, CPSE leaders, policymakers, and renowned keynote speakers will feature in sessions that enrich the learning experience.

CPSEs are invited to share their transformative experiences and perspectives on five sub-themes:

  • HR for Corporate Sustainability (Environmental Performance): This sub-theme examines HR's essential role in advancing sustainability, including decarbonisation and resource impact reduction. It underscores the need to embed sustainability into organisational culture, align business goals with environmental objectives, and promote enduring stewardship among employees and stakeholders.
  • HR for Creating a High-Performance Work System: HR's role in building a high-performance work system encompasses strategic workforce planning, efficient recruitment, and performance management aligned with organisational objectives. It also includes comprehensive training, fostering employee engagement and well-being, implementing fair compensation, shaping organisational culture, and driving continuous improvement.
  • HR for Social Responsibility: HR plays a critical role in aligning policies with CSR and community engagement, fostering ethics, diversity, and social change stewardship. This sub-theme explores how HR contributes to corporate social responsibility by aligning policies with social stewardship and SDG goals, nurturing diversity and environmental stewardship, and ensuring that the organisation's CSR goals are met.
  • HR for Good Governance and Ethics: HR plays a crucial role in crafting strong policies, fostering ethical behavior, ensuring compliance, and developing leaders who uphold governance standards. This sub-theme highlights the importance of leadership in upholding ethical practices and governance in CPSEs.
  • HR for Employee Well-Being: This sub-theme focuses on HR's role in fostering employee well-being by addressing health and wellness, work-life balance, and mental health support. It highlights how HR promotes a healthy work culture through incentives, financial wellness programs, and comprehensive employee assistance.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend interactive panel discussions led by key academicians and industry veterans. These discussions will focus on HRM strategies that contribute to the greater good within organisations. Additionally, participating CPSEs are invited to share their strategic journeys towards implementing "HR for the Greater Good" through concise PowerPoint presentations, highlighting innovative HRM practices and their impact on environmental performance, social well-being, and overall firm performance.

The conclave aims to recognise innovative and impactful initiatives by CPSEs that contribute to advancing HR practices. This recognition will be based on a pre-conclave survey capturing the essence of HR practices, as well as presentations during the conclave. CPSEs demonstrating particularly innovative and impactful "greater good" initiatives will be acknowledged and celebrated for their contributions.
