NCERT plays an important role for the preparation of NEET and to get an excellent score

There is a lot of academic pressure on class 12 students in India. It might be challenging to balance board exams and competitive exams because the difficulty of the two sets of exams varies. Board exams demand a great deal of commitment and focus. When a student is simultaneously preparing for more than one competitive exam like JEE or NEET UG, they all requires equal focus. On the other hand, NEET UG is getting harder every year due to the growing competition, and yet a successful candidate can stand out from the crowd by the approach they use.

We, at Edugraph, connected with city toppers with excellent scores in NEET UG 2023 to know their approach and preparation strategy for the examination.

Bhaskar Kumar

Bhaskar Kumar from Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri has secured an All India Rank of 17 with a score of 715 out of 720. When asked about his preparation strategy for the NEET UG examination, Bhaskar said, ‘I studied regularly and consistently for 8 hours daily, especially NCERT which is an important part of NEET UG preparation.’ Besides studying every day from NCERT, he also recommends that NEET aspirants firstly take as many mock tests as possible to rectify their mistakes and also that they also spend time in physical activities that keep them healthy and motivated to excel in the examination.

Sukanya Sarkar

Sukanya Sarkar from DPS Ruby Park with a score of 697 out of 720 became the topper of her school in NEET UG 2023. ‘I focused on my NCERT textbooks thoroughly, mainly for inorganic and organic chemistry and biology - only NCERT is sufficient. For physics and physical chemistry, I used to practice questions from my training centre modules. I never had any fixed schedule or timetable, but I would make sure to practice every subject each day. I realised that for NEET, practice, and revision are key. I devoted enough time towards my weak areas as in this exam, having expertise in each and every topic is important,’ said Sukanya when asked about her preparation strategy for NEET UG 2023.

Priyam Bhattacharya

‘For an entrance exam that will immensely test one's stress-handling capacity, being equipped with a dedicated and motivated mindset helps in all stages of preparation. The golden rule is to focus on fundamental concepts and to solve previous years' questions. For biology and inorganic chemistry, only NCERT should be followed and MCQs should be solved regularly. A well-planned paper attempting strategy through full tests will help in staying focused and calm during the examination,’ said Priyam Bhattacharya from DPS New Town, who has scored 656 out of 720.

Kusha Srivastava

For Kusha Srivastava from Lakshmipat Sighania Academy, an online learning platform she signed up with has helped her achieve 655 out of 720. ‘I attended online classes and gave fortnightly mock exams. Giving regular mock tests and doing proper analysis of the mistakes plays an indispensable role in achieving one's dream score,’ said Kusha.

Nishka Bajaj

Nishka Bajaj from The Heritage School scored 653 out of 720 by following a consistent schedule since class 11. ‘I used to study for a minimum of 4-5 hours daily on weekdays and 8-9 hours on weekends,’ answered Nishka when asked about how many hours she studied. For NEET UG preparation, she mostly focused on concepts and gave Physics more time compared to other subjects because she came to realise it was her weak point. ‘Following a strict daily study routine and giving mock tests on a daily basis helped me achieve this score,’ said Nishka.
