We witnessed a footfall of around 5000 people and we look forward to making Bani Bandana even bigger and better in the years to come
Vivekananda Mission School (VMS) Alumni Association, in association with Vivekananda Mission School, organised the fifth edition of Bani Bandana on 26th January 2023 (Thursday). This was our first Saraswati Pujo after the pandemic, and everyone could come and enjoy to their heart's content, without having to worry about the Covid restrictions. The pujo was grandly celebrated by the students, teachers, alumni members, guardians and the staff. There were several cultural programmes, competitions, festivities, and so on. The program marked a grand union of the ex-students, teachers, and staff, all alike.
Our theme for this year was "Boi er desh e bageshwari". Books have been our companion since time immemorial. They are an essential source of knowledge, enriching our minds and enlightening us about myriad aspects of life. Just as the books shed light on a plethora of subjects, newspapers keep us updated about the 'going-on's of the world. Inspired by the importance and the impact of books and print media in our lives, this year, our 'Pujo Mandap' was decorated with newspapers, magazines and over 400 replica books belonging to nearly 40 genres including classics, horror, mystery, non fiction, bestsellers and, of course, academics. At the centre of it, was the Goddess of knowledge, art and skills: Maa Saraswati. The murti this year was designed in the traditional 'Shabeki' style. The Devi sat surrounded by renowned literary works in various languages and is decked in stunning golden embellishments.
While students visited the pujo with great enthusiasm, the event marked a grand reunion for the alumni as well. Teachers and staff also whole-heartedly took part in the pujo. 26th January, being a public holiday, made it easier for everyone to return to their second homes this time, and most of them didn't let go of this opportunity. We witnessed a footfall of around 5000 people and we look forward to making Bani Bandana even bigger and better in the years to come!
