As students, the most difficult decision we face is choosing a career path. Our future, financial stability and most importantly mental stability, depend on this choice. So choosing the right career path from a wide array of options can feel overwhelming.
My journey in the past one year has been nothing short of a wild ride. The experiences and the learnings I acquired during my high school years have taught me about myself. I did not know what I wanted to do in life. Being too lazy, I was not stepping out of my comfort zone. Friends around me were pursuing their dreams of becoming doctors or engineers as a ''safe" career path. Though my parents advised me to do the same, I wasn’t passionate about it.
So, to rethink my career path, I started to spend some time trying to understand myself.
Self-assessment and introspection are must to know one's interests, values, and weaknesses. The subject I love studying, the activities I enjoy, my natural skills, my passions; are the factors that influence the potential career path which will make who I am.
My love for photojournalism and writing captured my mind in the most beautiful and captivating ways. Photography for me is telling stories without saying words.Writing for me is showing my true emotion–I had found myself. The light I was seeking in the outside world was always within myself.
Looking back on that time, the one thing that has really helped me is the ability to take brave decisions.
So, embrace your journey and follow your vision!
