Techno India Group, the largest private education group in Eastern India, unveiled a Durga idol created of fabric and crafted by students of Techno India Group Public Schools, Techno India Colleges and Techno India University. The idol has been installed at the Techno India Main Campus in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The event was graced by renowned film director, Mr Arindam Sil, Former Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Shri Goutam Mohan Chakraborty, elocutionist Ms Indrani Bhattacharya and Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group.
Sixteen students from the Group’s schools, colleges and university with 3 Art teachers volunteered to craft this year’s innovative idol of Goddess Durga with various kinds of fabrics. The entire process took about a month to complete.
“Durga Puja holds an extraordinary place in the hearts of every Bengali round the globe. At Techno India, we are no different and aspire to make Durga Puja remarkable in our own way each year. Last year, our students, being responsible citizens of tomorrow, created the Sustainable Durga. This year, they have raised the bar higher by crafting this beautiful idol of Maa Durga with various fabrics. Not only is it a marvelous piece of art but is also entirely eco-friendly. We invite Puja revellers to visit our campus to see this unique work of art for themselves,” said Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group, speaking on the occasion.
The unveiling program started with a performance of KOTR (Kids On The Rock) Ariadaha Band followed by a felicitation of the dignitaries and a Welcome Address by Prof Manoshi Roy Chowdhury. Then this unique idol was unveiled by the dignitaries present. The crescendo of Dhaaks by women dhaakis resonated in the air creating a splendid festive ambience that perfectly complemented Maa Durga’s invocation.The event concluded with a spectacular Dhunuchi dance.
The last year's Durga idol made with waste material by Techno India students is now being displayed at Sovabazar Sarbojanin Durgotsav 2023.
