In continuation with its journey of providing a holistic educational environment to students of various disciplines, Techno India Group, Eastern India’s largest education provider, has begun a series of innovative talk shows, and they are calling the initiative Unwind–Boi Kotha Kow. The concept of Unwind is somewhat similar to The Human Library. The Human Library is an organisation which started a movement in the year 2000 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It aims to address people's prejudices by helping them to talk to those they would not normally meet. The organisation uses a library analogy of lending people rather than books.

Unwind will be a monthly talk show with a difference. To be held amidst the familiar settings of the Techno India campus, each show will feature a specialist who will answer questions from the moderator and the students present. Unwind would provide a chance to students and budding professionals to meet and interact with veterans and specialists of their future professions and learn from them first-hand.

The Telegraph Online Edugraph spoke to Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group, on this initiative of the institute and she added “The major objective behind introducing this innovative concept of Human Library is to promote understanding, empathy and human connection by breaking down stereotypes and prejudices. It is an innovative concept where real people are termed as human books, ready to share their personal stories, experiences and perspectives with others. The human books come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences which allow readers to gain insights into lives and be inspired. The Human Library seeks to empower both human books and readers by giving them a platform to share and listen , fostering an atmosphere of trust and vulnerability that leads to meaningful connections and a more compassionate society”.

The first chapter of Unwind featured Dr Pradeep Vyas, IFS (Retd), Vigilance Commissioner, State Vigilance Commission, West Bengal & eminent environmentalist and ex-forest official instrumental in introducing many path-breaking strategies during his tenure for wildlife conservation and environmental protection. He was in conversation with Mr Shiladitya Chaudhury, Communication Consultant, Wildlife Photographer & Restauranteur and Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury.

Human libraries often affect students and people from other age groups differently and hence to get a much clearer insight on the same, Edugraph tried to delve deeper into this initiative of the college and providing us with her objective behind the same Prof Roychowdhury, added “I feel that the Human Library will motivate the students to think and perform things differently. Hearing the personal stories, challenges and success stories can promote empathy and understanding among students. They can be inspired by real human books. Engaging in meaningful conversations with a diverse range of ‘Human books’' can broaden students’ perspectives. It can encourage them to be open minded, consider alternate viewpoints and appreciate the richness of human diversity. Engaging in one-on-one conversations with the ‘human books’ can improve students' communication skills. . It teaches active listening, respect for others' perspectives, and the art of asking thoughtful questions. By showcasing a diverse array of ‘human books’, the initiative also celebrates inclusivity. It creates an environment where students from different backgrounds and experiences can connect, learn from one another, and feel valued. Participating in this innovative concept encourages students to actively engage in their communities. It creates an opportunity for them to be involved in events that promote social connections and interactions. I feel that this initiative will create a safe place for students to explore the richness of human experiences and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. By challenging their hypothesis and encouraging empathy it can inspire them to think critically, embrace diversity and take meaningful actions to make a positive difference in society”.
