Supreme Knowledge Foundation (SKF) hosted Infosys on July 12, 2024, at their campus for a Student Interaction Session. Infosys, recognized as the 64th greatest company out of 750 on TIME Magazine's 2023 list of the World's Greatest Companies, is the only Indian business in the top 100. The company provides services across various sectors, including manufacturing, insurance, finance, and software development, maintenance, and independent validation services.

The session featured esteemed speakers from Infosys who covered a range of engaging topics. They provided an overview of the computer science field, discussed sector prospects, introduced the latest technologies and IT trends, and offered strategies for personal brand development.

The Infosys delegation included Mr. Somesh Jana, Senior Director and Head of Infosys Kolkata Centre; Dr. Hory Sankar Mukerjee, Senior Principal Consultant; Mr. Nabarun Saha, Senior Technology Architect; Mr. Puneet Poddar, Technology Architect; and Mr. Arka Ghosh, Technology Lead. They made their first visit to the SKF campus, interacting with an audience of over 350 students and faculty members from the Engineering and Technology domains.

Representing SKF, Dr. Souma Guha Mallick, Vice-Chairman; Prof. (Dr.) Dhrubasish Sarkar, Principal and Department Chair of CSE, IT & ECE; Prof. (Dr.) Tripti Guin Biswas, Principal and Chief Administrative Officer; Prof. Sayon Ghosh, TIC of CSE/IT dept; and Prof. Monisha Ghosh, TIC of ECE dept greeted and felicitated the guests. In his welcome speech, Prof. Sarkar reminisced about his interaction with Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus of Infosys, in 2012 and highlighted Infosys's practices, value system, and contributions to the IT industry and nation-building. He expressed SKF's support and eagerness to collaborate with Infosys.

Mr. Nabarun Saha kicked off the session by introducing the computer science industry and various emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), AI-driven robotics, and 3D printing in medical, dental, and architectural applications. He emphasized the importance of domain knowledge and the diverse roles available in the industry, including software developer, computer programmer, network system administrator, hardware engineer, video game designer, information security analyst, software tester, and software architect.

Next, Mr. Puneet Poddar discussed the importance of staying updated with the latest IT sector developments. He stressed that keeping abreast of new trends helps understand job opportunities and challenges, aids in selecting suitable fields, and fosters innovation and professional growth. He encouraged students to explore AI, data services, cybersecurity, software, hardware, and equipment.

Mr. Arka Ghosh then spoke about current IT trends, identifying microservices, low-code/no-code platforms, cloud computing, data, open source, cybersecurity, automation, and AI as key areas. He highlighted the importance of offering technology solutions that balance "as is" and "to be" systems with some level of personalization. He also covered various cloud deployment models, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and types of clouds—public, private, community, and hybrid. His presentation concluded with a visual overview of the Cloud DevOps framework used in life sciences.

Mr. Somesh Jana elaborated on the concept of building a personal brand. He explained its necessity for establishing trust with clients, attracting the right employers, aligning long-term objectives, networking effectively, and differentiating oneself. He offered practical tips for personal brand development, such as learning foreign languages, earning certifications, honing creative talents, engaging in corporate social responsibility (CSR), and improving public speaking skills. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of empathy, sustainability, and diversity in personal branding.

The event and interaction continued for more than 3 hours and left the students inspired and motivated to set realistic goals, thanks to the insightful discussions by the Infosys professionals. SKF plans to continue organizing similar events in the future. The senior team at SKF also had productive discussions with the Infosys delegates about potential future collaborations.
