Sumiran Hora from Kolkata wins ‘Best Diplomat’ award at Global MUN Conference

Sumiran Hora, a resident of Kolkata, emerged victorious at the recent GLOBAL MUN conference held in Dubai, UAE, where she represented India among a diverse pool of delegates from over 50 countries. Hora's stellar performance earned her the esteemed title of Best Diplomat and positioned her as the youngest recipient of this accolade in the conference's history.

The three-day conference, which took place from May 17 to 20, 2024, provided a platform for youth leaders to engage in diplomatic simulations and discussions on pressing global issues. Hora, a Class XII student of Modern High School, Kolkata captivated the audience with her insightful presentation on the digital divide, shedding light on the importance of Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, and 9 in bridging this gap.

She participated in negotiation sessions discussing key global issues such as cybersecurity and campaigned for international collaboration, gender equality in technology, investment in resilient infrastructure, and promoting inclusive industrialization through innovation.

As the delegate of South Korea, Hora showcased her diplomatic finesse by advocating for the country's global contributions, despite being the youngest participant among nine delegates representing India. Her unwavering dedication and leadership qualities were evident as she navigated negotiation sessions on topics ranging from cybersecurity to inclusive industrialization through innovation.

The recognition bestowed upon Hora by the conference organizers, Best Diplomats, headquartered in New York, underscores the significance of youth leadership in shaping global discourse and fostering international cooperation.
