St. Xavier’s College honours celebrities from various walks of life at Dashobhuja Bangali

The Dashabhuja Bangali awards ceremony began with students of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) dancing to the tune of Badh bhenge dao. The Park Street campus celebrated International Mother Language Day on February 21 by felicitating eminent Bengali personalities for their contribution to various fields.

Tollywood actress Koel Mallick was felicitated by Father Dominic Savio, the principal of St. Xavier’s College. “I am grateful to have received acclamation of such stature on a platform that is very close to my heart,” said the Bony actress.

Actor Anirban Bhattacharya was awarded for his contribution to cinema and theatre. The Shah Jahan Regency actor hummed a few lines of Kichchu chaini aami and Nijeder mote nijeder gaan on audience demand.

Actor-director Parambrata Chattopadhyay was one of the recipients of Dashabhuja Samman. “February 21 is personally very special to me. The Dashabhuja Samman makes it all the more special. Undoubtedly, this is a one-of-a-kind experience, and I will cherish this for life,” said the Dwitiyo Purush actor.

Music composer Shantanu Moitra came down from Mumbai to receive the Dashabhuja Samman. The audience broke into loud cheers as he sang Behti hawa sa tha woh and Bavra mann dekhne chala ek sapna.
